Before you install your QuickTank! you should cut a piece of closed cell foam or some other form of padding to place on the seat. Cut the piece large enough to completely cover an area at least one inch around the bottom and rear of the tank. Your seat will thank you.
Fully open the mounting clamps and place the QuickTank! on the seat. Push the tank back into the seat cushion below the backrest until the mounting clamps fit in the center of the passenger handles.
Close the clamps and install the stainless steel bolts and washers, provided, from the bottom up. You may me tempted to put the bolts in from the top, but lifting the bike onto the centerstand will be more difficult if you do.
Place one washer over the bolt and start the nylock nuts, provided. Get out your ratchet, socket, and wrench and snug up the bolts.
Things will be snug on the first installation and you may need help holding the clamps shut while you start the bolts. After the tank has had a chance to sit on the bike for a while all the rubber and foam will take a set. From then on, installation will be a breeze.
Warning: Do Not over tighten the bolts or you risk bending the mounting brackets. The bolts only need to be tight enough to keep the tank from sliding. The nylocks will not come loose!! Rubber pads have been installed on the mounting clamps to protect the passenger handles. This rubber will compress after the first installation, so check the tightness after several miles. If the bolts are not rattling in the brackets, they are probably tight enough.
The mounting system is checked for fit before welding is complete. Some movement may take place as welding is completed. If your mounts don't line up exactly with your passenger handles, you can loosen the handles with the four seat mounting bolts before snugging up the mounting bolts. Don't forget to tighten the seat bolts!!!
